UAE's highest mountain peak is preparing for an influx of tourists

The summit of Jebel Jais in the United Arab Emirates will be equipped with all amenities for comfortable tourism.

The public facilities department in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, has begun equipping the country's highest mountain peak, Jebel Jais, with new amenities, including public restrooms and shaded seating areas.

Ahmed Al-Hammadi, director general of the department, said: "This step is part of a comprehensive plan to improve the infrastructure of the famous tourist area, which over the past four months has driven more than 150 thousand cars."

On the stretch of road leading to the top of the Jebel Jays, there will be 20 pockets for cars. One of them will be located at an altitude of 1680 meters above sea level, where the temperature drops to -2 degrees Celsius.

The work also includes the construction of two main three-lane roads and eight cement retaining walls for rocks. Al-Hammadi said these walls are aimed at protecting visitors and vehicles. The department also plans to build the world's largest retaining wall, which is expected to be listed in the Guinness Book of Records. It will be 500 meters long and 30 meters high.
