In Dubai, the collector seized the debtor Jaguar and took it to himself

A collector from Dubai has appropriated a $ 50,000 debtor’s car.

In Dubai, a bank collector is accused of misappropriating a Jaguar car worth 193 thousand dirhams ($ 52.5 thousand).

It is reported that the debtor from whom the car was seized previously issued a loan for the purchase of Jaguar 2013 and used it for some time before leaving the country in June 2017 without paying off the loan.

As soon as it became clear that the client had not fulfilled his loan obligations, the bank instructed the debt collection department to return the mortgaged car, court records show. The collector tried to contact the buyer and found out that he was no longer in the UAE. He also found out that the buyer left the car keys with his friend. He promised to give the keys to the collector.

Jaguar was supposed to be auctioned. But this did not happen, since the collector took the car for himself. The scam became known, and the bank filed a lawsuit against the accused.

The police found out that the car was located at the collector’s brother, who owned Jaguar for more than a month, and then went on vacation and never returned to Dubai.

The man is accused of abuse of his authority as a bank collector and of illegal possession of a vehicle.

Currently, he is considered a fugitive. The suspect never appeared in the Dubai court of first instance, where the hearing was to be held last Sunday.

Another collector said that the service received screenshots of images and WhatsApp messages confirming that the suspect sent a tow truck to return the car, but this did not happen. After the suspect went to Syria and said that the car was parked behind his house in the emirate of Ajman. The brother of the suspect collaborated with the bank and gave the keys to the car.

The hearing is adjourned until the suspect is officially notified of the upcoming hearing on March 11th.
