Geza Schoen looking for his molecule

ESCENTRIC MOLECULES - A PERFUME HOUSE, FOUNDED IN 2005 BY A BERLIN PERFUMEER BY GEZA SCHOEN IN COOPERATION WITH THE BRITISH COMPANIES THISCOMPANY AND MECOMPANY.

The history of the brand began from the moment when Geza Schoen decided to create a revolutionary mono-fragrance based on the Iso E molecule, which is used in most perfume compositions, but has never been an independent element of the fragrance before. Talk about the amazing "Eccentric Molecules" of Gyza does not stop in those countries where these perfumes are already sold. Geza Schoen recently flew to Dubai to present his creations at Bloomingdale's department store.

Geza, you were born and raised in Berlin, where you continue to work. What brings you to the world of perfumery, traditionally associated with the natives of France and England?

I think that not everyone who was born in Grasse is called to become a perfumer, and vice versa, not every real perfumer should have grown up surrounded by lavender fields of French Provence. My passion for perfumery began at the age of 13, even then I was the owner of a collection of more than 100 fragrances (samplers, of course). I liked looking for differences in perfume. And once I realized that this hobby needs to be applied somewhere. And I decided to study. Then for many years he worked with various perfume houses, creating for them alone or in a team with other perfumers aromas known today, for example, Diesel. And then I wanted to develop some kind of my own perfume composition, not like the others.

They say that Molecule 01 is the embodiment of your own self, is that so?

To some extent, yes. You know, among my friends in Germany it’s somehow not customary to use rich perfumes. Once I asked my friends why they did not use the products of famous brands. I was told that many modern men's fragrances too much clog the individuality of a person, they are sharp, sweet, heavy ... And I thought about what it would be worth trying to create perfumes that were revealed directly on the skin. And on each person in his own way. In a word, when I was working on another fragrance, my attention was attracted by the amazing smell of the synthetic component Iso E Super.

That evening I conducted an experiment: scented a friend for them, and we went to a bar. He never received so many compliments and unambiguous offers. The next morning I decided that I was simply obliged to share my find with the world. So came Molecule 01, a fragrance based on one single component that activates the sound of its own pheromones. Then, a more tangible variation was created of this almost soundless fragrance called Escenrtic 01, which was based on the same magic molecule, plus fragrances. A couple of years later, the collection was replenished with Molecule 02 and Escentric 02, created to arouse the desire of any living creature.

Are your fragrances really capable of enhancing sexuality?

My flavors have several features that distinguish them. They are whole. They open on the skin and last more than a day. They “play” on the skin and can hide or “explode” their sense of smell. At the same time, the composition of the fragrance equally affects both the object of desire and the person who uses it.

Geza, are your creations natural or synthetic?

I would say 50 to 50. Most of those who talk about how wonderful fragrant essences and extracts of this or that plant do not imagine the possible consequences of their use. Chemical elements began to be added to perfumery products for a reason. This reduces the possibility of allergic reactions to aroma.

One of your fragrances is called Beautiful Mind. What does perfumery have to do with memory?

The most direct. Christian Stenger, a five-time world champion in memory, inspired me to create this fragrance. The main idea was this: aroma is a direct conductor to the world of consciousness, and correctly tuned and selected aromatic molecules are able to activate the hidden abilities of the mind. So, Beautyful Mind is based on nootropics - neurostimulants, substances that improve memory, stimulate mental activity and promote concentration. For me it’s not just perfume - it’s a game of the mind!

What perfumes do you personally prefer?

I practically do not use perfumes, since I like to listen to it more on other people than on myself. I like to smell my Molecules on others.

What is the phenomenon of popularity of Escentric Moleculs, in your opinion?

I do not know, perhaps, in their unusualness. Having released the first collection, I did not think about advertising at all, but the aromas were rapidly gaining popularity, moreover, in different countries and among people with different tastes. So something hooked in them. By the way, my perfumes are in demand in Russia, and I also don’t know why. But it's nice.

Do you consider yourself a happy person? And who would you be if you did not choose the profession of perfumer?

I am happy, intolerant, partial, quick-tempered, lazy and cynical. In my opinion, the real dream of any mother-in-law, right? (laughs) In my case, the future. I am one hundred percent sure that if I had not become a perfumer, I would have been a stylish lamppost!

Thanks for the conversation, Geza. I wish you success.
