Dubai, UAE. One of the greatest musicals of our time, Grease, on which several generations of our contemporaries grew up, has received a new reading and arrives for the first time in the Middle East, namely in Dubai.
For many years, the story of the life of American teenagers in the style of rock and roll was told from the stages of Broadway and the West End. The musical Grease, created by two young actors Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, was first released in 1971 and has since returned to the theater scene more than once. And in 1978, after the release of the movie of the same name (John Travolta played his star role in the film), the real "Grease-mania" began in the world. And has not ended to this day! The musical continues to go on stages of many European theaters, gathering full halls and proving to everyone that "Grease - is STILL the word!".
The classic plot is based on the story of the life of the American, and to be precise, Chicago youth of the 1950s. Danny Zuko, a tough guy and a high school team leader, has an affair with Sandy, a romantic and naive girl who dreams of a big and pure love, during the summer holidays. Vacations end, and they part, it seems to them, forever. But upon returning home, Danny discovers that a new student has appeared in their college - none other than that same Sandy. Pretty, but not at all what befits him "by image." Therefore, when meeting with her, he pretends that their summer romance is an insignificant affair, which offends her very much. This gives another reason to gloat Betty Rizzo, the main among the elite group of high school students who call themselves "Pink Ladies". Betty disliked the new one at first glance, considering her naive and too correct. She compares Sandy with Sandra Dee, a Hollywood star of the 50s - 60s, who played exclusively positive heroines. The situation is heating up. Danny and Sandy alternately quarrel and reconcile. But love is stronger than resentment, and in the end both understand that you must be able to compromise and sacrifice something for the one you love.
