The Louvre Abu Dhabi is the first in the region to present a rare painting by Rembrandt

The Louvre Abu Dhabi will present rare works by Vermeer and Rembrandt this spring.

The Louvre Abu Dhabi will be the first museum in the region to present the work of Dutch masters Rembrandt and Vermeer. The works of two artists are part of this year's first gallery exhibition - "Rembrandt, Vermeer and the Dutch Golden Age: masterpieces from the collection of Leiden and the Louvre."

The exposition will be held in the capital of the UAE from May 14 to 18.

Previously, the museum acquired a rare work by Rembrandt, which depicts the image of Christ.

“Rembrandt was one of the greatest storytellers in the world of art,” says Manuel Rabat, director of the Louvre Abu Dhabi, “This is Rembrandt’s first ever work to complete the museum’s collection in the Persian Gulf, so our visitors can experience the full power of his creations.” .

Before the Abu Dhabi Louvre exposition, the Rembrandt painting acquired by the museum appeared at exhibitions only four times. In December last year, it was purchased at an auction in London for 47.4 million dirhams ($ US 12.9 million).
