Dubai, UAE. Mandatory military service in the United Arab Emirates has been extended from 12 to 16 months. The new rule applies to men between the ages of 18 and 30 who graduated from high school, the UAE Armed Forces command headquarters said.
Mandatory military service for men was introduced in the United Arab Emirates in 2014 and since then a large influx of recruits has been recorded. For women, military service is voluntary and lasts 9 months. It requires permission from the guardian.
