New desert luxury eco-hotels open in UAE

In the emirate of Sharjah, three new luxury eco-hotels are opening.

Three new luxury eco-hotels will open this year in the emirate of Sharjah, UAE, as part of the Sharjah Collection project. Hotels are being built in partnership between Mantis Hospitality and the Emirate's Investment and Development Authority.

One facility, Kingfisher Lodge in Khor Kalba, is already running in test mode. It consists of 25 luxurious tents in the desert zone of Sharjah. According to Mantis, it's a bit of a safari for guests with a spa and wellness center located in a separate tent.

This year it is planned to launch two more facilities - Al Badayer Oasis Lodge with 19 rooms and 10 tents with several restaurants and an open-air cinema, and Fossil Rock. This is a converted hotel house, which was built in the 1960s in Mleiha, not far from the archaeological site. It accommodates up to 10 guests and features a private pool and spa with salt room.
