Dubai Airport introduces a manual baggage fee

At Dubai Airport, a new duty for handling oversized cargo has appeared.

Dubai, UAE. Passengers departing from Dubai International Airport will pay an additional fee for the manual handling of oversized baggage. This was reported by the operator Dnata, serving the terminal.

The size of the fee will depend on the airline: for example, Air India will charge a fee of 45 dirhams per seat. Emirates Airlines has also revised the oversized baggage allowance since April 8 this year. For example, the carrier doubled the discount for checking in oversized baggage online: //www.emirates.com/ae/english/before-you-fly/baggage/.

Oversized cargo, as specified in the statement of the operator, include too large, too light, too heavy or fragile things, or objects having an uneven surface. In addition, baggage is recognized as oversized, which can damage the conveyor or slow down its operation. The operator is forced to hire additional personnel to handle such goods - from blankets to home theaters.
