UAE to host the first car tuning contest

For the first time in the United Arab Emirates, the Custom Design Cup will host a design contest for tuning cars, which will be held in October this year along with major automotive exhibitions such as the Middle East Motor Tuning Show (MEMTS) and the International Automobile Show (IAS).

The Custom Design Cup competition is the first open competition in the region of the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, giving everyone a chance to submit their own design project, which can then be used to paint a Ford Mustang from Al Tayer Motors. The car with the winner design applied to it will be presented at such major Middle East auto shows as MEMTS and IAS, which will be held on October 14-18 this year at the Sharjah Expocenter.

All submitted works will be reviewed by a special committee of experts and journalists, headed by Sheikh Marwan bin Rashid Al Muallah, chairman of the Emirate Motorsport Federation and owner of the MotorPlex club in Umm al-Quwain. The design, which will be awarded first place, will be implemented by a team of professional designers Bespoke Auto Design, led by Bear Garcia (Bear Garcia). In addition, the competition winner will receive a cash prize and will be invited for an interview in the popular MTV Arabia television program.

The famous Bear Garcia is widely known for his work around the world. He showed his skills by creating automobile masterpieces for such world celebrities as Snoop Dogg, Paris Hilton, Shaquille O'Neil, Kobe Bryant and many others.

“Over the past five years, the market for custom-made cars has been steadily developing and moving forward, however, it is still new. I am very pleased to have the opportunity to participate in the competition and work in the Middle East region, this is a new experience for me “It will also be interesting to see how elements of Arab culture bring new trends to the development of design for cars,” said Garcia.

Designers wishing to take part in the competition can submit their work in the categories of internal and external design or both categories at once. In the category of "external design" points will be awarded for creativity, attention to detail, functionality, tuning packages, an extended body, painting, tires, wheels and accessories; When evaluating the internal design, the upholstery, covers, audio systems, TV, DVD and additional devices will be evaluated. Additional points can be awarded for the emotional appeal of the submitted project.

According to Roman Gavrilin, project manager at MEMTS, there has been a recent trend in the region of such changes in cars that could threaten the lives of drivers and passengers and are illegal. However, the main and most important priority for The Custom Design Cup is safety. The contest and show organizers hope to convey to its participants and spectators the understanding that only professionals can create safe car tuning that will fully meet both personal safety standards and the standards of safe movement in the United Arab Emirates. Applications for participation in The Custom Design Cup are accepted until August 31. Ten finalists will be announced on September 5th. Support for the car tuning contest is provided by Al Tayer Motors, Bespoke Auto Design, Yellow Hat and ZAFCO.
