According to official statistics, the population of Ajman increased at the end of 2010 by 12% compared with 2009 and amounted to 262,186 people, including 42,186 indigenous emirates. According to the annual statistical report of the government, Ajman is the fifth largest emirate in the UAE.
By the end of last year, the number of large industrial plants and units in Ajman amounted to 3059, investments reached 3 billion dirhams (US $ 819 million), the number of jobs reached 46 thousand. Further, the report notes that 16% of Ajman's population are indigenous to the UAE.
Nationwide, the population of the emirate is 3.2% of the entire eight millionth population of the UAE.
