Igor, the bulk of your songs is lyrics permeated through with love and tenderness. How do you do it?
I think that I can hardly answer this question. That's how a thought comes to a person’s head, does someone know? And I do not know. But somehow suddenly from beginning to end the song “I wish you” is written, in some five to ten minutes! Just after the phrase of a little child heard once, "I wish my mom out of a thousand toys one soft one."
I did not graduate from the Faculty of Literature or anything else profile, but it is written. I believe that everything comes from above ... What time does God kiss? Maybe when a person is in the womb, or maybe much later. This is not given to anyone to know. But here in my work everything happens without torment. Thank!
Today, many songs on the stage are mainly "read", I mean rap. How do you feel about modern music and what is broadcast on television and radio?
This is a fashion. Someone told people that rap is now fashionable and modern. As well as a new club opens in the city, and everyone goes there. And how, by and large, is he better than where everyone was yesterday? I dont know. Personally, I have a negative attitude to the “format - not format” situation, because I know for sure that the label “not format” has discouraged writing from many of my colleagues. For example, I am now finishing work on a new album. In general, I write permanently, and all the time I am in search and in the studio. And someone stopped doing this because it makes no sense. Here the author comes to the radio, and they say “not a format” to him, to television - and there, the same thing. In most cases, our brother is told "no format" so as not to offend.
Someone immediately announced how much it costs, but other "cultural figures" simply believe that there is no need to voice prices, it is easier to declare the work "not a format."
Recently, one famous Russian musician said that the Earth has become scarce on talents in all areas of art, and that talent begins to flourish when understanding of life comes. What do you think about that?
Do you know what my opinion is? A talented person, if he is truly talented, will show his gift in two years, and in three, and in six, and later. At the age of four, I personally climbed on a chair and demanded attention from my parents. Sang something there, recited. Then at school I was drawn to the stage, and then at the institute. And, in general, away we go .... I’m sure that many talented guys just don’t know where to start. And if they suddenly find out where to start, and come there with their own initiative, and they are told that they need about a million dollars ... Then where does such money come from a person who has just graduated from college? So no new talents are visible. They need help. Financial in the first place.
But when did you start, did you, like many other musicians, also have no money?
Well, everything was different with us. As for me, I still can’t understand how I did it. Perhaps the Lord helped. I left the institute in which my father taught, and said that I want to be a guitarist in the Flowers group. Of course, this decision did not please my parents. My father told me that he does not have the opportunity to arrange me in the "Flowers". And you probably remember that in Soviet times it was customary to “arrange” children for good universities or for prestigious jobs. So, they couldn’t arrange me for a doom, and even more so in Flowers. As a result, I go to the army, and Stas Namin appears here in my life, because he comes to visit his musician, who was doing military service with me. It was the musical director of "Flowers" who listened to me ... What is this? I was twenty years old, and I still cannot understand how this happened. Happening? Probably. Only all cases in our life are not accidental at all.
All women fans of your work, probably, care about the question to whom exactly do you dedicate each new love song? Who is she?
I want to say that I am creating for the sake of a particular woman, but no. Probably, when I write, I devote my every song to just feelings. Yours or one of your friends. When I see that my friend fell in love with this girl, I want to write about it. Or, based on my own life experience, on something that was once seen or heard, I simply describe or think up a situation, and tell the audience about what touches me. Here and now.
Igor, you travel a lot around the world. Which country or city made the most vivid impressions on you?
I have been touring a lot since 1980. All countries of the world hardly touch me. I’m only interested in our, let’s say, neighboring countries. In this regard, Ukraine is very happy. I really love Kiev. I like Kazakhstan. And that’s it. No longer do I like any distant foreign countries. Absolutely. Everything else around. I feel very uncomfortable when I am abroad. And the point here is not even language barriers. Much here or any other country is unusual for me. For example, this is your hot air. Then, it surprises me why my passport has been detained for so long in immigration control. It is incomprehensible and unpleasant to me. Better not to go anywhere, honestly. All this is inexplicable to me: why should people create any difficulties in traveling, in communicating with each other. When I go somewhere and see passport control, I always wonder: "Why did people come up with this at all?" Well, well, well, this officer saw my passport, and so what? Did it please him? Did it bring success to his country? Or something else? Even if I am a villain, he will still let me through, and then let the internal services deal with me. What does it give? Fight explosions help special systems. I don’t understand who needs visas and other restrictions ...
Nevertheless, you are here, which we are very pleased to see, as you are rarely seen on television. Tell me, please, if you turn back to your work with outstanding musicians of the 1970s and 80s, did the concept of true creative friendship, mutual support, or something change over time remain in your circle of communication?
I think that people are friends and will be friends anyway, no matter what time it is. I am friends with everyone. Maybe not everyone today maintains constant friendly relations, but they call back and go to visit. This is not gone. What supports me? What was once laid, and without it I can no longer live, is a love of music. This is my air, my oxygen. Regardless of whether it feeds or does not feed. Indeed, before creativity did not feed, but it was very drawn to him. I could not live without music; I left the institute for her sake. Not for the sake of money, I did it. I have kept this very core in myself, and it keeps me both in life and in creativity.
What do you value most and what you don’t accept in people?
I do not accept meanness, game, falsehood, masks. I can’t stand it. I even have a song about masks and masquerade. I love sincerity, I believe in love, in real feelings. It is impossible to play them. I do not accept publications in the press, which are created only for the sake of PR, black or white, no difference, if only to write. I would really not like such publications about myself. And, frankly, now the press has become very strange. It seems that the leadership of newspapers and magazines confronted the correspondents with the task of shaking out everything that was darkest from a person, turning his soul out, finding not good, but bad. Do not rejoice at the success, but tell as much of the unpleasant as possible. This is strange to me. Today we have all the press and all the television "yellow", no matter how sad.
Whose successes and victories sincerely please you?
Close. Children are joy and happiness. You know how they say: "You want happiness give birth to him." My "relatives" graduated with honors from this institute this year. It's great. No one is sick. It pleases me. I'm not sick. Wonderful. Songs are being written. Perfectly. People like songs. Sumptuously! Recently, I am pleased that, having gathered different opinions, people in our country have come to the conclusion that over the past 35 years, not a single song similar to the song “Victory Day” has been written. It’s just that, apparently, we all thought that “Victory Day” was written, and that's enough. And so every year on May 9, all our radio stations are forced to turn only Victory Day. And that’s it! And we took and wrote a new song, "May. Number nine." Gorgeous song turned out. I am proud of her because she was a success! It was immediately taken by all the leading radio stations of the country, and on May 9 I had several live broadcasts with this song.
Will we hear her in our Dubai concert?
Not. I just wrote it down before flying here. And then, at off-site concerts, I sing only untwisted songs, because I have so many of them that for untwisted ones there simply is not enough space in the program.
Igor, you not only write music, you still act in films, collaborate with KVN workers, and tour a lot. A trivial question, but what are you working on now, and is there a song that you have dreamed about all your life and which has yet to be born?
Yes, I not only create myself, but also like working in other genres with talented people. For example, in March he took part in the filming of the humorous show "Ural dumplings" called "Beauty will save the myrrh". It turned out funny, in my opinion. If we talk about music, that is, a dream song, and not one. There are already almost ready two or three songs that are not completely completed, you still need to record vocals for them. Here is another case for you.
I have a friend with whom we have been friends for more than 20 years, every day! And we know each other well. And suddenly this year he begins to write poetry. He probably always wrote them, but I did not know about it. And when I found out, we took and wrote 13 new songs at once. Beginning in January. In fact, this is an entire album that has already been practically recorded. It will be released in September this year. But this does not mean that I stopped working. I really do not like to put off songs "in the long box". If a song is born, you must immediately record it. Therefore, I write them and immediately put them on Top Hit. And I don’t want to stop at all. I like to give joy to people! I’m like that “boat” that cannot but sail forward ...
