Dubai Taxi Corporation's total operating income in 2012 was AED 1.09 billion (US $ 297 million), said His Excellency Mattar Al Thayer, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Executive Director of the Dubai Roads and Transport Committee (RTA). It is worth recalling that in 2011 the corporation earned 1.05 billion dirhams (US $ 286 million).
According to the head of RTA, the total number of Dubai taxi rides grew last year to 37.2 million, or to 111.5 thousand trips per day. The total number of passengers served has also increased - from 67.1 million in 2011 to 74.5 million in 2012.
In 2011, the special Safe Hands Service was launched, aimed at meeting the needs of children, women, schoolchildren, students and people with disabilities. Last year, a VIP taxi service also appeared, which can be used when ordering executive cars at Terminal 3 of Dubai International Airport.
