The authorities of Ras Al Khaimah banned the wearing of open swimwear on the beaches

Wearing open swimwear is now prohibited on the public beaches of the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah. The local municipality and the police have installed appropriate information boards on the coastline that urge tourists to “adhere to moral standards and wear“ modest ”clothing.

So, women are forbidden to wear too open bikinis, and men - too tight swimming trunks. Violators will be issued a warning, and in case of repeated violation - a fine will be issued. It should be noted that the two most popular beaches in Ras Al Khaimah are located near hotels where women in bikinis take sunbaths along with local women dressed in fully enclosed swimwear - burkini. In the evenings, local women come here with families who bathe in national clothes - Abayas.

Police have already called on the public to respect moral standards and show respect for Muslim culture. This step was a reaction to the numerous complaints of local residents about tourists wearing "indecent" clothing. Locals welcomed the innovation. They also noted that the majority of Emirates vacationing on beaches with families are "too modest to comment on tourists behaving inappropriately."

For example, Farida Suleiman, a 28-year-old resident of Ras Al Khaimah, hopes that the new measure will clarify the situation for tourists. "I completely agree with the ban. We live in an Islamic country, and I would not want to see" naked "people here.

I avoid communicating with them, but if they do come up to me, I try to be polite, "she said.

It is worthwhile to clarify that the police will arrange visits to local hotels in order to explain new standards of behavior to tourists.
