Dubai International Airport is recognized as the fastest growing in the world, if we estimate the annual growth in the number of seats. According to the OAG research company in April of this year, their number increased by 757 thousand compared to the same period last year. The figures also show that the transportation hub of the Persian Gulf region has grown by an average of 12% per year since 2004. The second place in this rating was taken by the international airport Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), the number of seats in which increased by 552 thousand, the third - Istanbul Ataturk terminal (plus 529 thousand seats).
John Grant, OAG Executive Vice President, said: "The consistent growth of Dubai International Airport over the past decade is due to the growth of the route network of carriers. So, over the past year, Emirates has introduced 9 new flight destinations, increasing the number of seats by 22 thousand daily."
