New Louis Vuitton Project

It has recently become known that the brilliant six of models, artists and architects will develop a new LOUIS VUITTON BAG DESIGN.

In honor of its 160th anniversary, the legendary French House invited such star designers as Karl Lagerfeld, Christian Louboutin, Frank Gehry, Cindy Sherman, Rey Kawakubo and Mark Newson to create their own version of the bag with the iconic Monogram colors on a brown background. The historic “golden” print is a Louis Vuitton business card, created by the son of the founder of the House, George Vuitton, in 1896.

Within the framework of the project, designers were given a full carte blanche for experimenting with a form for a new bag or suitcase.

By the way, Nicolas Gesquiere is not at all against the participation of third-party designers - on the contrary, the creative director of the women's clothing and accessories line himself initiated the project together with Dolphin Arnault, vice president of the company. According to Arno, the goal of the project is to pay tribute to "the most coveted bag in the world." The project, designed to exalt the “LV” pictogram beloved by millions, was given the symbolic name “Icon and Iconoclasts”.

Interestingly, the participants included industrial designer Mark Newson, architect Frank Gehry and artist Cindy Sherman. If for Lagerfeld, Louboutin and Cavacubo, the founder of the avant-garde brand Comme des Garçons, the creation of bags is common, then for the other half of the creative team this is the first such experiment. Newson, for example, specializes in furniture design, Sherman works with staged photography, and Gehry is currently busy with drawings of the new Louis Vutton foundation building. However, all six will have to get distracted by the sketches of the branded bag.

A limited collection of bags and suitcases will appear in Louis Vuitton branded boutiques in mid-October, they will be sold at prices from 2 to 4 thousand euros.
