The season of the Abu Dhabi Classics festival will end with a one-of-a-kind performance by the Donetsk Opera and Ballet Theater. It will be attended by leading ballet dancers of the Bolshoi Theater Ivan Vasilyev and Ekaterina Krysanova, as well as the first Emirate ballerina Aliya Al Neyadi. A unique performance will take place at Emirates Palace on April 20, 2018.
The classic ballet "Corsair" was based on Byron's poem. It was first staged at the Paris Opera in 1856. Choreographer Yuri Grigorovich is a living legend. The performance will include all the famous fragments representing the classical ballet: Le Jardin Anime, Pas d'Esclave, the Grand Pas de Trois des Odalisques and Le Corsaire Pas de Deux.
The premiere of this performance directed by Yuri Grigorovich took place at the Bolshoi Theater in 1994. The plot tells of the adventures of Conrad - the leader of the pirates - and Medora - a girl from Greece, with whom he is in love. The ballet Corsair is dedicated to the exciting theme of pirates and abductions and is saturated with the spirit of adventure and romance.
