Mӧvenpick Hotels & Resorts becomes the first resort operator in the Maldives

The Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts hotel chain has signed an agreement to manage its first resort in the Maldives. Mӧvenpick Resort & Spa Kuredhivaru Maldives will be located on the remote island of Kuredivaru in the Nuonu Atoll, representing a haven of dreams, surrounded by pristine natural beauty in the northern part of the Republic. The opening is scheduled for the second quarter of 2018.

A modern tropical resort will combine comfort and style in 33 beach and 72 water villas. Conceived as a place of relaxation and a sanctuary offering a high level of confidentiality, the resort will also have many entertainment facilities on site to entertain a wide range of guests, from honeymooners to families seeking adventure.

Situated on one of the most idyllic atolls in the Maldives, the resort will become one of the few exclusive hotels in the area, offering guests the opportunity to completely dissolve in the breathtaking landscape and unspoiled nature. Many of the surrounding islands are still uninhabited.

“It's no secret that the Maldives is a very sought-after holiday destination whose popularity is still growing, and our impressive resort represents an important exit for Mövenpick to these world-famous, cozy islands,” said Chief Development Officer and Senior Vice President of the Asian Region Andrew Langdon, “We look forward to introducing our guests to the Mӧvenpick Resort & Spa Kuredhivaru Maldives in a corporate style, with the hospitality and service of Mӧvenpick, when it opens in 2018.”

A diverse marine life and excellent diving opportunities will play an important role in the attractiveness of the resort. It will include a comprehensive dive center, a beach sports center, an exclusive guest superyacht, as well as a marine research center and a private marina.

The first marine national park (MNP) in the Maldives, consisting of nine uninhabited islands, commonly called Edu Faro, is about 15 minutes away by speed boat from the resort. Popular climbing areas and diving areas in Orimas-Thiel will also be easily accessible.

Gourmet culinary offerings are the cornerstone of Mövenpick, and the new Maldivian resort offers five unique restaurants. Among them are a cozy 24-hour restaurant, a seafood restaurant, a grill bar and a separate institution for special occasions.

Wellness and recreation facilities include a luxury spa with 14 private treatment rooms, a yoga pavilion, a modern gym, a water sports center, a volleyball court and tennis courts. The resort will also be equipped with a business center, library and shop, which will add even more comfort to a carefree holiday at the resort.
