A tanker lost in the Persian Gulf does not belong to the United Arab Emirates

In the Persian Gulf, an oil tanker stopped communicating. Authorities confirmed that the vessel does not belong to the United Arab Emirates.

July 16, 2019 it became known that a small oil tanker two days before that went missing in the Persian Gulf. Officials from the United Arab Emirates said the ship was not owned by UAE companies. The crew also does not include emirates.

A Panamanian-flagged tanker stopped transmitting its location after entering Iran’s territorial waters, said Salem al-Zaaabi, director of the Department of International Security Cooperation of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He added that the UAE is monitoring the situation with international partners.

According to the Associated Press, the US "has suspicions that Iran has established control over the tanker."

Recall that last month the United States accused Iran of "attacking" tankers in the Gulf of Oman.
