In Dubai, the carbon footprint of each hotel will be registered

Dubai authorities will help the emirate hotels to monitor the amount of harmful emissions.

Soon, each hotel in Dubai will have a greenhouse gas emission registration card. Dubai's Department of Tourism and Commercial Marketing (DTCM) announced this last week, announcing that it will provide hotels with an individual report on CO2 emissions.

Yusuf Luta, Executive Director of Tourism Development and Investment at Dubai Tourism, said the report will provide hotels with an understanding of how and where improvements can be made to reduce the overall Carbon Footprint in the hotel sector.

Using the Carbon Calculator software, hotels will be able to compare their performance with those of other hotel establishments and develop a strategy to reduce the negative impact on the environment based on "12 steps to sustainable development."

The emission analysis report was prepared in accordance with the UAE National Program for 2021 to strengthen the position of Dubai as the most “smart” city in the world and a role model in terms of energy efficiency.
