UAE coffee shop visitors with their own mugs will receive discounts

Costa Coffee coffee shop in the United Arab Emirates invites visitors to opt out of disposable cups.

Costa Coffee chain launched a new initiative in the UAE as part of efforts to reduce waste and preserve the environment. Visitors who bring a refillable vessel - a mug or a thermos - are promised a discount of two dirhams ($ US 0.54).

The offer is valid for all drinks - from traditional latte and cappuccino to ice drinks.

The discount may not seem so big, but people who are used to drinking coffee daily can save up to 730 dirhams ($ US 198) a year in this way.

In addition, the Costa Coffee initiative is consistent with the concept of sustainable development of the UAE launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and ruler of Dubai.
