UAE introduces five-year visas for retired expats

The Cabinet of Ministers of the UAE approved the introduction of five-year visas for expats aged 55 and over.

Dubai, UAE. The Government of the United Arab Emirates has approved the introduction of five-year visas for expats aged 55 and over. The new law is expected to enter into force in 2019.

The right to obtain five-year visas (with the possibility of extension) will be granted to foreigners who have reached retirement age, who have invested at least 2 million dirhams (US $ 548 thousand) in real estate in the UAE, or have savings of at least 1 million dirhams (US $ 273 thousand ), or having a stable income of at least 20 thousand dirhams per month (US $ 5.5 thousand).
