Kazakhstanis explained the procedure for visa-free entry to the UAE

The border service of the emirate of Abu Dhabi explained the procedure for border crossing by citizens of Kazakhstan after the abolition of entry visas to the UAE.

Kuat Kanafeev, Consular Advisor to the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the UAE, met with the Head of Passport Control at the Abu Dhabi International Airport, Jamal Ahmed al-Thib.

The interlocutor explained the procedure for passing passport control at the airport and the rules for the stay of citizens of Kazakhstan in the UAE.

Given that since March 10, 2018, citizens of Kazakhstan do not need to apply for a visa to the United Arab Emirates, a number of requirements have been identified that must be followed when planning a trip and passing passport control at UAE airports:

  • When crossing the border, you must provide a passport to the border guard, scan the retina, after which the identification data will be entered into the database.
  • Children of all ages must have their own passport;
  • If the children arrive with their parents or with one of the parents and have different surnames, then for the child it is necessary to have the original birth certificate with a translation into English. Translation does not require notarization.

After the first border crossing, the data of the passport holder is entered into the database and during subsequent visits to the UAE, passport control can be done using the E-Gate system, which does not require the participation of a border guard officer and significantly reduces the procedure time.

In some cases, airport border guards are entitled to request a return ticket, hotel reservations, and other additional information.

Today, the Emirate airline "Etihad airways" operates flights on the route Astana - Abu Dhabi - Astana twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

In the coming days, employees of the Consulate General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Dubai will hold similar meetings at the international airports of Dubai and Sharjah, which also operate flights from Kazakhstan.

Recall that in the early days of February 2018, Kazakhstan and the UAE completed domestic procedures in accordance with the agreement between the two states on the abolition of visa requirements for citizens of both countries, holders of civil passports for up to 30 days, signed in May 2017 in Astana.

The visa-free regime will work from March 10, 2018.
