Dubai Airport employee to be deported for stealing sweets

A baggage carrier at Dubai Airport will be deported for stealing sweets from passengers.

The 22-year-old baggage carrier at Dubai Airport, who stole sweets while transporting suitcases on an airplane, was sentenced to three months in prison and will be deported from the UAE.

In January 2017, a Dubai court of first instance accused a man of theft and sentenced him in absentia to three months in prison.

The defendant asked for a retrial.

On Thursday, the presiding judge ordered a change of sentence due to leniency.

However, an accused who has not pleaded guilty will be deported.

The porter was caught red-handed and taken for interrogation. When asked if he was opening passenger luggage, he admitted that he had opened several bags and picked up sweets and ate them right there. He argued that he never took any values.
