In the UAE, a man is accused of forcing daughters to engage in prostitution

In the United Arab Emirates, two lawyers refused to represent a man accused of forcing his daughters into prostitution.

An unemployed 51-year-old Syrian from the UAE is accused of raping his daughters and forcing them into prostitution.

Two daughters aged 20 and 31 years worked in the hotels of the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, UAE. According to them, the father forced them to dance in nightclubs and have sex with men for money. Often the father himself found clients for his daughters.

The younger sister said that at first the girls refused such work, but the father beat them, locked them at home and took away the phones. According to her, she was also sexually abused by her father. He involved her in prostitution when she was 14 years old.

The victims made attempts to resist their father, but he beat them and locked them. Last year, he caught his daughters while trying to escape from home. Once again, he beat and locked them, but the next morning they managed to get a phone and call the police.

The man was arrested on the same day. He denied all charges.

“I just drove them to clubs where they earned dancing. They wanted to dance themselves, I didn’t force them. They said they wanted to help me financially because I have 10 young children,” he said.

A number of charges have been brought against the man, including human trafficking and rape. Two lawyers refused to represent the accused in court.

The next hearing is scheduled for January 24th.
