The head of the RTA and Elon Musk discussed the supply of 200 Tesla cars for the Dubai taxi fleet.
Tesla and SpaceX CEO Ilon Musk met with CEO and Chairman of the Dubai Highway and Transportation Authority (RTA) Matar al-Thayer at the LA CoMotion congress in California.
According to RTA, issues related to the supply of 200 cars for the emirate's taxi fleet were discussed.
In September, the RTA received 50 electric vehicles of the Tesla S and X models as part of the above deal. According to the RTA, in 2018 it is planned to supply another 75 cars.
The RTA is also responsible for implementing a strategy that ensures that a quarter of all vehicles in Dubai are converted to unmanned driving by 2030.
Al-Thayer’s meeting with Mask took place a few days after Tesla presented what the company said would be the fastest production car - a four-seater version of the Tesla Roadster EV, equipped with a 200 kW battery that speeds up to 100 km / h in 1.9 seconds.
In addition, the company introduced the Tesla Semi Truck model, capable of transporting more than 36 thousand kg without a driver.
