In Dubai, a project was launched to unload the central highway

In Dubai, a grandiose project to reduce Sheikh Zayed Road congestion by 15 percent is being implemented.

In Dubai, the first phase of the road project was launched, which includes two phases worth 1 billion dirhams ($ 272 million). It is part of the strategic plan of the Emirate’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) to reduce congestion on major roads.

The project covers 108 km, starting with the Sheikh Rashid Road in the north and ending with the outskirts of Abu Dhabi.

The project provides for the modernization of the intersection of Al Meydan and Al Khail Roads roads. For unloading organized flyovers. A two-lane bridge is under construction to move from Al Khail Road in the direction of Sharjah through Al Asayel Road to the intersection of Oud Metha Road.

The project also includes the creation of entry / exit points for the Meydan Development Project in addition to the construction of four 1150-meter underground passages.

The two phases of the Parallel Roads Project are designed to reduce traffic density by 15 percent on the Sheikh Zayed Road between the 1st and 2nd road junctions by providing additional entry and exit points to the Business Bay and Burj Khalifa District. This will increase the throughput to 20 thousand cars per hour in both directions, increase the throughput of Meydan Road, reduce the travel time between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road from 12 to 2.5 minutes and ease the load on the Financial Center Road. Both phases of the project include the construction of bridges with a length of 5665 meters and tunnels with a length of 2445 meters.

Completion of work at the intersection of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Road and Sheikh Rashid Road almost reached 60 percent. The main bridge at Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Road is expected to open in the first half of 2018.
