In Dubai, a gang of robbers lured a victim with a photograph of a Russian woman

In Dubai, a gang of Nigerians robbed a gullible man using the Tinder dating service.

In Dubai, five Nigeria citizens between the ages of 23 and 32 have opened an account in the popular dating app Tinder by posting photos of a beautiful woman. Using the service, they lured a man into an apartment, where they attacked him and robbed him.

The victim was stolen cash, a mobile phone, as well as car keys together with bank cards, from which the criminals managed to withdraw more than 100 thousand dirhams ($ 27 thousand).

The 42-year-old victim said that in July he met a Russian woman in Tinder, and virtual relations began to develop between them. Later, she invited him to have dinner at her place. The door was opened by one of the accused. When asked about the woman with whom she was dating, she replied that she was inside the apartment. When the man entered, another woman closed the door and demanded money. After the victim refused, three more criminals appeared in the apartment, who took the phone from him and began to beat him.

When the attackers took the money from the cards, one of the accused took a photograph of the victim, threatening to find if he would report the incident to the police. However, the victim immediately went to the police station as soon as he was released.

Police arrested four people. One woman is still at large.

The criminals were charged with assault, robbery, threats and illegal use of third-party bank cards. They pleaded guilty.
