Off the coast of Dubai will build new moorings for hundreds of yachts

Developer Nakheel signs construction contract worth 165 million dirhams ($ 44.9 million) for the construction of six berths on the islands of Deira

The berths can accommodate a total of 614 boats and yachts up to 60 meters long.

Construction will begin in the fourth quarter of 2017 with a phased transfer to operation over two years, the Nakheel statement said.

Nakheel previously entered into four contracts worth over 430 million dirhams ($ 117 million), which also relate to the development of four islands.

According to Nakheel, more than 7.5 billion dirhams ($ 2 billion) have already been invested in the infrastructure and construction of the project.

So, in April, a construction contract was signed for the Deira Mall mega-project. It is expected that the mall, which will be the largest in Dubai in terms of retail space, will be completed in 2020.

Nakheel chairman Ali Rashid Luta said: "We are investing billions of dirhams to prepare the Deira Islands and turn Dubai's Deira into a world-class tourism, retail, leisure and entertainment hub."

"Our new coastal city will become a venue for hundreds of hotels, residences and attractions, many of which we are developing as part of our business diversification strategy," he said.

The project area of ​​15.3 square meters. km will add 40 km, including 21 km of beach, to the coastal area of ​​Dubai. Some of the key facilities on the islands include Deira Boulevard with 16 residential towers, about 3 thousand apartments and shops and restaurants, a night market that will house more than 5.3 thousand commercial and restaurant establishments on the coast, as well as resorts that are being developed in partnership with the Spanish RIU and Thai Centara Hotels and Resorts.

According to estimates, the population of the islands will be 250 thousand people and will add 80 thousand jobs.
