The monorail route, the creation of which will cost 350-400 million USD, erected in the area of The Palm Jumeirah island, will stretch from the coast of Jumeirah (Dubai Emirate) to the breakwater that protects the artificial island from the sea. It is conceived as a transport and entertainment complex for transporting tourists, while the inhabitants of the new island area themselves will use mainly cars and sea taxis.
For this two-way road, which will be raised above the ground on concrete poles, a strip of land on the trunk of Palma is alienated with a width of only 7 meters. The concern, led by the Japanese company Marubeni, will build a monorail in 24 months. At the first stage of operation, trains of one or two wagons serving four stations will carry 2,400 passengers per hour with an interval of 6 minutes. Later, the capacity of the road using four trains will be increased to 6,000 passengers per hour.
