- Is the Emirates your favorite vacation spot?
- Since I am a busy person and I have almost no time for rest, I try to get the most out of every trip. In the Emirates, you can escape from the hustle and bustle, even being in the center of a bustling life. I love places like Royal Mirage (Arabian Court), where, despite the density of the population, no one bothers anyone and it seems that you live in complete solitude.
And also by traveling, which is in no way connected with work, I realize my boyish dreams: to ride among the dunes on a camel, to swim along the Amazon River ... For such adventures, I often go to little-known places with Andrei Makarevich.
Sometimes, of course, I like to relax in the country house near Leningrad with my grandchildren. Yes, yes, I won’t get used to calling him that because the Soviet Union remains for me, to which I will never betray.
- Have you ever thought about changing citizenship in hard times?
- Never! The only thing for which I could take, for example, an Israeli passport, is to expand and simplify travel opportunities. It is humiliating to wait for a visa, when in one week you can visit several countries at once. But I will not change the passport for my own reasons. I can say the same about my like-minded people.
- You say that the Homeland is the Union for you. Where did you “breathe” easier: 20 years ago in the Union or in today's Russia? How do you feel about your political activity, what changes are you waiting for?
- Political activity for me is an opportunity to do useful, good deeds. I am trying to somehow influence the improvement of the living standards of our citizens. I want the whole world to respect us. But, as the classics said, we will not live better while we drink and steal. And we will always drink and steal ...
- Your forecast does not look optimistic ...
- No, actually the process of lifting the country has already begun. For example, in the yards, the boys no longer play football - there is simply nowhere to do it, everything is jammed with cars. The car has ceased to be a luxury; the middle class, which is becoming more and more, can afford it. It just takes time. Journalists shout that they do not have freedom of speech. And in my opinion, such as ours, there is no freedom of speech anywhere else. Sometimes it crosses all boundaries. And now everyone writes that "oh, how bad it is." And people used to believe the printed word, it is genetically embedded in us.
If you write tomorrow that Rosenbaum molested a girl in the Royal Mirage, then 70% of readers will believe this. Even knowing my principles. At least they’ll think: “what if the truth did find something on him” ...
Therefore, when the current government and system are abused in newspapers, this means that everyone wants everything at once. But no one wants to work on it.
- So, you believe that a “sweet life” is possible in Russia too?
- I think after 30 years no one wants to leave Russia anywhere ...
- The boys do not play football, but your songs were sung 20 years ago, and they are sung. What is your audience like today?
- I am pleased to see young people and older people, listeners from different social groups at my concerts. I never speak at weddings and restaurants, I do not like to sing in front of "chewing mouths." I hate it. But most importantly - I do not consider it shameful to communicate with people who are in life in opposite camps. I do not boast about it, but I do not hide it at all. I have to revolve in political circles, therefore, I am familiar with ministers, major political figures, government workers. But there is a different society, distinguished only by its social status. Why is a thief in law worse than a minister? He also loves mom and his children.
- And who can you call your friends?
“I have only two friends.” I clearly share such concepts as “friends”, “friends”, “acquaintances” and “like-minded people” - people with whom I have common moral and ideological beliefs. And if my acquaintances have the ocean, then real friends can only be compared with a brook. But clean.
