Dubai Department of Tourism and Commercial Marketing (DTCM) reports:
- In 2004, 286,000 Russians visited Dubai, which is 10% more than in previous years;
- The number of Russian citizens flying to Dubai International Airport last year increased by 51% (373,958 people);
- The number of flights over the past year increased by 31%; today, 38 charter and regular flights are operated from Russia to Dubai on a weekly basis;
- Russians are among the most active buyers in Dubai. For example, the Gulf News newspaper recently found out that among the buyers of Vertu, one of the most expensive phones in the world, worth 20,000 dirhams (about $ 5.5 thousand), it is the citizens of the Russian Federation that prevail.
