Opened by Dubai Bike Week, Mohammed bin Sulayem, a 14-time Middle East motorcycle racing champion, is a well-known and respected figure in Dubai. Solemnly cutting the red ribbon at the entrance, Mohammed bin Sulayem said: “Today we have witnessed another grandiose step in the development of the motto industry in the Middle East. Over the past years, we have watched the gradual growth of the motorcycle market, but the current exposition will be a real catalyst for what happened in this areas of change. Within the framework of Dubai Bike Week, live performances of the Scorpion Customs team, as well as the famous DJ GQ, to the music of which demonstration performances with exciting tricks were shown by different biker teams. Local musicians and bands also excelled, including Abri, Juliana Down, Paul Akiki, Lumi, The Meerkats. Basically, all the events took place at the Piazza Arena. The multifaceted Gulf Bike Expo 2009 exhibition, held simultaneously with Dubai Bike Week, included the latest innovations: motorcycles, custom cars (custom-made), ATVs, scooters, tuning and customizing accessories, spare parts for motor vehicles, sports accessories, clothing and helmets , and many other different utilities from leading manufacturers from Europe, the USA, Canada, Italy and Japan.
In several specially equipped cafes, everyone who was over 21 years old was served cold beer and the corresponding snacks - pizza, tapas, hot dogs. And, in general, everything, if briefly about the festival itself. And the holiday was a success! If not for the legends of world rock - Deep Purple!
Purple Concert
When it comes to world rock legends, anyone will immediately name the names of such rock groups as The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Scorpions and, of course, Deep Purple. Find at least one Soviet boy who, starting to take the first chords on his guitar, would not have learned the introduction to the famous composition "purple" Smoke on the Water. And what is Gilan’s Child In Time, and so on ... I won’t go into the group’s biography and talk about all its hits, I’ll just say that the legends, they are legends - the Dubai concert worked out "with a bang!"
People of all ages and nationalities came to listen to Ian Gillan's companions at a concert venue near the Dubai Festival City. The concert began with a half-hour delay - which is probably not a delay for a group with that name. The audience enthusiastically welcomed their favorites - and they did not disappoint. Starting with the famous Highway Star, the musicians worked the whole concert honestly and sincerely. Of course, the sound for this kind of concert was not very well tuned, but we will give a discount to the organizers. Rock concerts in Dubai is just a nascent thing.
Many, oddly enough, did not immediately recognize in the thin gray-haired gentleman the once large and incredibly curly Ian Gillan. During the concert, he didn’t, and there was a feeling that he was a little tired - it seemed that even on stage the musician was having difficulty moving, let alone the voice that was clearly weak that evening. Maybe the whole thing is in an insufficiently adjusted sound, when the musicians simply blocked the soloist. But there was nothing, and Gillan’s unprofessionalism was definitely impossible to blame - the whole concert he lasted with a smile on his face.
The Dubai audience met with a storm of applause every song, the audience of the older generation even sang along. And in the end, the hall simply roared when in conclusion it sounded the same - the grandiose Smoke on the Water.
The aftertaste from the concert remained appropriate. The music of Deep Purple, which previously occupied the minds of millions, and then faded into the shadows, begins to play with new colors, rolling in waves of new - or well-forgotten old? - bright emotions. And what is the matter here - nostalgia or something else - is not so important. Moreover, the purple ones never behaved like typical rock stars. Call them classics - and they will only laugh back ...
