About 300 wildlife from Africa arrived in Sharjah Emirate

Wild animals, including giraffes, rhino and wildebeest, are sent to a protected natural area in the emirate of Sharjah, UAE.

Emirate of Sharjah receives 288 animals from Africa, home of which will be the Elebriddi Wildlife Conservation Area in Al Dhaid.

The Sharjah Department of Environment and Protected Areas has already announced the arrival of 288 animals at Sharjah International Airport.

The statement said that this initiative reflects the emirate’s experience in the conservation of endangered species.

Among the animals imported there are 15 giraffes, 5 rhinos, 16 oryxes, 12 water goats, 12 cannas, 8 white-tailed wildebeests, 24 blue wildebeests, 36 impalas, 10 lychees, 8 nyal, 26 kudu, 42 antelope jumpers, 8 redunks, 8 kaam , 12 flash boxes, 6 clip springs and 4 shrub dukers.

Hana Saif Al Suwaydi, Chairperson of the Department of Environmental Protection and Protected Areas, said: “Sharjah has a proven, advanced position in the field of environmental protection.”

She added: “Through our ongoing efforts, we strive to preserve many species of animals and birds and create breeding environments in protected habitats in accordance with the rules of the UAE.”

“In addition, we strive to emphasize the importance of protecting wildlife and raising awareness among members of society about wildlife and the protection of wildlife and endangered species.”
