The limit for exceeding the set speed on the roads of Dubai is reduced to 10 km / h

The limit for exceeding the maximum speed limit indicated on Dubai road signs has been reduced from 20 km / h to 10 km / h, in accordance with the order of the chief of the Dubai police, Lieutenant General Dahi Halfan Tamim.

Thus, the radars on the roads of Dubai will now be triggered when the speed set by the sign is exceeded by more than 10 km / h. The innovation comes into force from the beginning of November and, according to Halfan Tamim, will concern only trucks, buses and taxi service vehicles. The police chief did not give any explanation as to how the radar could distinguish a taxi car from a private passenger car.

Commenting on the innovation, the head of the Department of Traffic of the Dubai Police, team leader Mohammed Safe Al-Zafin pointed out that a decrease in the speed limit of 10 km / h should reduce by 10% the number of accidents involving trucks, buses and taxis over the next few months. According to police in 2008, 22 people died as a result of an accident due to the fault of minibus drivers, 16 people died in an accident while getting on buses in the wrong place, accidents caused by heavy truck drivers killed 24 people.
