Certina and BMW Sauber F1 Team continue to collaborate

Since 1888, when the Swiss watchmaker Certina was created by the Kurt brothers, its philosophy was based on reliability, accuracy and an innovative approach. In 1959, this manufactory developed its world-famous DS concept - Double Security or "Double Reliability", which provided Certina watches with exceptional durability and water resistance. From the first days, the company demonstrated its commitment to sports and racing, and its name is inextricably linked with the names of such outstanding champions as Mick Dwayne, Alex Krivil, Peter Solberg, Seth Giberno, Timo Glock, Thomas Luti and Robert Kubica, also the legendary boxer Mohammed Ali.

Since 2005, Certina has been an official partner of the BMW Sauber F1 Team. Watchmakers and racing masters work closely and fruitfully. In the 2009 season, the BMW Sauber F1 team experienced many ups and downs. After a successful start at the Australian Grand Prix stage in Melbourne, the team faced stiff competition during the next races, but in the second half of the season they managed to narrow the gap as much as possible. The good results of the final races of 2009 allowed the team to look to the future with hope.

Many years of fruitful cooperation with Peter Sauber, who took over the leadership of the team after BMW left Formula 1 in 2009, influenced CERTINA’s decision to continue joint activities. The company respects the dedication of the motorsport team and its vast experience in car racing. Therefore, in 2010 the brand’s logo will decorate the rear view mirrors of F1 racing cars, as well as helmets, gloves and a cuff suit for team pilots Pedro de la Rosa and Camui Cabayas, which will significantly enhance the visual representation of the famous Swiss watch brand.
