Dubai, UAE. The World Council of Happiness was established in the United Arab Emirates on the initiative of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. In his opinion, the world urgently needs to develop a new approach to achieving human happiness, which will be based on cooperation and the search for common ground.

The establishment of the council was announced on March 20, World Happiness Day. "The growth of tension and global transformation require leaders and politicians to develop new approaches that will give people hope and open prospects," said Sheikh Mohammed.

The council will be led by Jeffrey Sachs, a professor at Columbia University in the United States, and will also include 12 members. The new body will develop international standards of happiness in order to ensure further global development. Council will meet twice a year. He will also receive administrative support from the UN.

"An example of happiness is contagious, and we want as many people in the world as possible to feel happy and enjoy well-being," the ruler of Dubai said. He clarified that changing the strategy will require a change in the culture of government bodies. "We want to transfer the goals of the international organization to the common tracks of happiness and positivity in order to ensure greater stability in the world and improve the quality of life of people," said Sheikh Mohammed.
