Cricket Star Paid Debts to 30 Prisoners in Dubai

Well-known cricketer Shahid Afridi paid the debts of 30 Pakistani prisoners in Dubai who could not get out of prison due to financial problems.

Renowned Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi has partnered with Dubai police to release 30 Pakistani prisoners in Dubai by paying off their debts.

The former captain of the Pakistan cricket team tweeted: “By the grace of Allah, we have helped free 30 prisoners at the moment, more will be released in the coming days.”

Dubai police have confirmed the fact of cooperation with the Afridi Shahid Foundation, which helped Pakistani prisoners in the emirate with financial problems.

Prisoners were detained in police stations because of the inability to pay off debts. Afridi hopes that the release of Pakistani prisoners will help them start a new life after returning home.

The 36-year-old athlete, who is known worldwide for cricket for his aggressive innings, wrote on his official Facebook page: “I am very grateful to the Dubai police, which turned out to be very compassionate and kind to the initiative to release Pakistani prisoners and to give them the opportunity to return home and restore your life. “I feel happy and humble that this was made possible thanks to the Afridi Foundation.”

The fund, established in March 2014, helps build hospitals, dig wells in remote areas of the country and provides free education for children.
