The festival is back!

ANNUAL HOLIDAYS OF SUMMER AND CARE-FREE CHILDHOOD - “DUBAI SUMMER SURPRISES” - BEGAN IN THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES.

The Dubai Summer Surprises Festival is an annual cultural and entertainment event that kicked off this year on June 22nd, becoming the 14th in a row. “Summer surprises” can be called the most long-awaited event in the region, traditionally spreading throughout the summer. This year, the summer holiday program for children and adults has been slightly reduced, so it will delight everyone from June 22 and only until July 31, 2011, and with the onset of August, the holy month of Ramadan for all Muslims will come.

If we turn to history, it must be said that the summer festival has been held in Dubai since 1998. Initially, the festival "Dubai Summer Surprises" was organized with the aim of attracting tourists and residents of neighboring Gulf countries to the emirate in the summer, as well as to organize fun and interesting activities for children and adolescents during long school holidays. Since the first "Summer Surprises" in 1998, more than 17.5 million people have become guests and participants of the festival. The total consumer spending over 13 years amounted to 22.5 billion dirhams (US $ 6.1 billion).

The symbol of the festival "Dubai Summer Surprises" is a cheerful yellow man-sun Modhesh. Modhesh, which means “amazing” in Arabic, was invented by the organizers of the festival in 2000 and became an instantly recognizable emblem of this fun event.

The program of the festival “Dubai Summer Surprises” (DLS) is usually divided into thematic weeks: art, animation, colorful, ice, technical, flower, cultural and ethnographic, adventure, sweet and final, “Back to School”. Within each theme, numerous theatrical, dance, circus and musical performances, competitions and quizzes, carnival processions, various creative workshops for children and their parents are held in the city's shopping centers and other indoor venues. The festival is considered to be one of the main shopping and entertainment events held in the Persian Gulf region during the summer months, as well as an ideal place for families. The motto of this festival: “Unforgettable Summer in Dubai” reflects the intention of the organizers of this famous summer event to provide children and adults with endless opportunities for recreation and entertainment. For example, in the Sahara Center shopping center, located on the border of the emirates of Dubai and Sharjah, a chocolate factory opens, which will be happy to meet all the sweet tooth of the world in the evenings from June 30 to July 14. Within 15 days, visitors to the factory will be able to try their hand at coloring chocolate products, as well as taste various varieties of this delicacy, take part in culinary master classes using chocolate and admire the exhibits of the chocolate exhibition. At the factory, a playground for children will be open, and guests will also enjoy festive parades, music and fun.

Those who don’t particularly like sweets are invited to visit the indoor ice rink located in Dubai Mall, the largest shopping and entertainment center, to take part in the Summer Fun at Dubai Ice Rink entertainment program. This program is sponsored by Sheikh Majid bin Muhammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum. All children will have ice skating lessons, Penguin Racing and the Puck Competition. During the various competitions and contests, three winners will be selected, and the winner of the first place will receive the right to stay in the four-day sports skater camp for beginners "Learn-to-Skate camp".

Another “winter” building in Dubai is fully prepared for the “Summer Surprises”. The Dubai Indoor Ski Park Ski Dubai, located in the Mall of the Emirates, invites all skiers and snowboarders to participate in summer sports camp programs, which will be held from June 19 to July 24 under the strict guidance of professionals. All interested children and adolescents from 3 to 13 years old are admitted to the ski camp, and from 8 to 13 years old to the snowboarding camp. Classes are designed for 5 days and will last 5 hours a day. Ticket price - from 770 dirhams.

Throughout the summer festival, the Mirdif City Center shopping center will offer its youngest visitors various entertainment events and prizes as part of the Enjoy, Stamp & Win program, which will be held in conjunction with Hallmark, Hamleys, Little Explorers , "Soccer Circus" and "iFly Dubai". The special offer from the shopping center is a gift set, which includes the “Buyer Card” for participating in the drawing of numerous prizes, a calendar of entertainment programs for children, information on special trade offers and a coloring book. To participate in the draw, you must visit five children's performances and put a mark in the “Buyer Card”.

Schedule of performances: "Ben 10" (June 24-30), "Circus Africa" (July 7-16), "The Collectors" (July 14-23), "Thomas and Friends" (July 21-31). The performances start at 16.30, 17.30 or 19.30.

The rest of the shopping centers involved in the festival carousel will also delight everyone with surprises and gifts who come shopping, dine or go to the movies. Do not forget about the traditional lotteries and raffles of valuable prizes, anyone who can spend from dirhams 200 on shopping or entertainment in any shopping center in Dubai can become participants.

The leadership of the Dubai Event and Promotion Office (DEPE), which, in fact, is fully responsible for everything that happens in the summer in the city, as usual, has planned a number of entertainment and shopping events under the general slogan "Summer in Dubai " In addition, on June 22, the work of the unique children's entertainment and educational center "Mir Modhesha", located at the Airport-Expo exhibition center, was launched.

The Modhesh World will run until early September. A unique addition to the program of “Summer surprises” will be two mono-festivals “Ramadan in Dubai” and “Eid al-Fitr in Dubai”, in the framework of which numerous cultural and educational events will be held, including art and photo exhibitions, contests of the best readers of the Koran, shows fashionable traditional clothing for the Arabian region and so on. It should be borne in mind that during Ramadan, Muslims abstain from eating food and water during daylight hours, in addition, noisy music and dance events are not held in Ramadan in order to enable the faithful to focus on fasting and prayer. Numerous charity events will be held during the Ramadan in Dubai and Eid al-Fitr in Dubai festivals.

Such is the summer in Dubai, in which the festival has returned, and even more than one. If you add to this a whole range of interesting offers from the leading spa centers and health facilities of the city, special prices in the best hotels and restaurants, then a vacation in Dubai may well compete with the "untwisted" summer destinations. And remember, the water in the sea, of course, is unusually warm, but in the pools and water parks it always cools! The festival is back! And you?
