The famous Birmingham Quran will be exhibited in Dubai

This month in Dubai you can see the famous Birmingham Quran.

In the framework of the tour of the University of Birmingham in the UAE, dedicated to the largest interactive digital exhibition, telling about the fascinating history of the Birmingham Quran, in Dubai this relic will be seen. The Qur'an will be on display at the Dubai Design District (d3) from April 19 to May 3.

One of the oldest surviving Islamic manuscripts, the Birmingham Quran is considered a world-class treasure.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai, got acquainted with the exhibition at the 2017 International Book Festival in Sharjah (SIBF) as part of a year of creative collaboration between the UK and the UAE.

About 25 thousand people visited the SIBF and Umm Al Emarat Park exhibitions in Abu Dhabi, where they saw the manuscript in digital form, as well as a detailed copy of the holy Quran.

Vice-Rector of the University of Birmingham, Professor Sir David Eastwood, said: "The manuscript of the Birmingham Quran is of great importance for the Muslim heritage and academic study of Islam."

“Following the success of this interactive digital exhibition in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, where His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid and thousands of people visited, it is a great honor for us to present the exhibition in Dubai.”

University of Birmingham worked closely with the British Council and the Ministry of Culture and Development of the UAE as strategic partners and d3 as a host to host a unique exhibition in the UAE.
