Dubai ambulances to drive traffic signals

Dubai ambulances will be equipped with special remote control systems capable of changing the alignment of traffic signals at the entrance to busy intersections.
According to Khalifa bin Daray, the manager of the Dubai Ambulance Service Center, seven of the fleet's vehicles are already equipped with the latest equipment to allow ambulances to freely cross intersections in situations of particular importance. Smart sensors are able to identify a signal of a forward traffic light 500 meters before the intersection, switching it to "green", automatically blocking the streams crossing it with "red". This will help to avoid the tragic consequences of delays in the ambulance en route to the hospital or scene.
In order to control the use of sensors, the Committee on Roads and Transport will calculate the number of situations where the new product will be used, which will then be compared with the actual needs in accordance with the statistics of the Ambulance Service Center. If everything goes smoothly, the entire fleet of vehicles will be equipped with sensors.
