The world saw the new Volkswagen Touareg last fall, when the international car dealership Mondial De L'automobile was held in Paris.
Since then, the car has already been on several expeditions and tried his hand as a tug of aircraft. But he "got it" to us only now - the first restyled cars were officially shown to residents of the UAE in early March. The updated Touareg façade is now fully in line with Volkswagen's new corporate identity, which was set by models such as Eos and Passat. Not to say that the big “muscular” SUV really comes with the “let down” headlights and the chrome “beard” of the radiator grille, but that the Touareg began to look more solid and civilized - a fact. Maybe this is a hint - there’s nothing, they say, to roam the Dhakaram and deserts - is it time to calm down already? Nothing of the kind - Touareg, although it "combed", but did not become a SUV from this.
He still has an advanced all-wheel drive transmission with locks on the front and, on request, rear differentials. In normal driving mode, the torque is distributed evenly between the axles, but in some situations all the thrust can be applied to the front or rear axle. At the same time, the Touareg arsenal was replenished with an improved ABSplus system, sharpened off-road - with its help, the braking distance of the machine, for example, on dirt, is reduced by 20 percent.
Engines are also updated. The base engine for the Touareg was a five-cylinder in-line diesel engine with 174 hp. There are more powerful engines - among gasoline engines, this is the new V6 FSI and the large V8, which have 280 and 350 “horses,” respectively. Among the diesel engines will be another six-cylinder unit with a capacity of 225 hp. and the V10 with its 313 hp The latter, however, will have to wait - they will start delivering cars with this engine to the Emirates a little later. But about the version with the gasoline new 450-horsepower W12 engine so far nothing is heard. Most likely, they will continue to produce it on order at the Volkswagen Individual studio.
But, remaining a fighter, Touareg does not forget about comfort. Indeed, it was the combination of these two qualities that was appreciated by customers who have bought more than three hundred thousand of these cars since 2002. And the new Touareg should not hit the dirt in the face (of course, figuratively - on the road, he can). Of the "chips" of the updated Touareg can be called an automatic cruise control, which itself maintains the distance to the vehicle in front, and the Front Scan radar system, which warns of dangerous situations. Touareg also helps the driver with rearrangements by tracking cars in dead zones. And for music lovers, Volkswagen will deliver a 600-Watt Dynaudio audio system to Touareg. On order, of course.
To list all 2300 changes and improvements, probably, it makes no sense. What is more important another question - how much? The base Touareg R5 TDI costs at least $ 54,039, and if you want a gasoline car, get ready to part with at least $ 66,398 for the V6 3.5 FSI version. A car with a V8 engine, equipped with options to the eyeballs, will already be in a six-figure sum. The updated Volkswagen Touareg has become even more luxurious and even more capable. And, of course, more expensive.
