10 million SMS will be sent to residents of the UAE to prevent SMS fraud

9 million 600 thousand SMS messages will be sent to users of the UAE mobile networks as part of a campaign to prevent the spread of fraud in the UAE through sms and email. The campaign, initiated by the UAE's Telecommunication Regulation Authority (TRA), began on August 16.

It is designed to inform residents of the UAE about possible fraud options via sms and email. Messages sent by TRA will contain a reminder that the transfer of personal banking information to third parties is extremely dangerous, and assurances of a big win are probably a hoax.

SMS messages in English and Arabic will be sent to all subscribers of two emirate telecommunication companies - etisalat and du.
