More than 50 thousand companies from the UAE violated labor laws

52 thousand companies from the United Arab Emirates received over 141 thousand fines for violations in respect of employment permits.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MOHRE) said on Saturday that more than 141 thousand fines were issued to 52,675 companies from the private sector for invalid work permits.

According to the Ministry, 15% of the companies in the general database were fined. Saif Al-Suwaydi, deputy minister of labor at the ministry, said this fact confirms the implementation of laws and regulations by most companies.

“Nevertheless, it is recommended that those who did not adhere to the rules contact the ministry and pay fines at reduced rates after the Cabinet’s recent order to reduce all fines to AED 2,000 $ 544.5 per employee,” he added.

The ministry said that companies that could not pay their fines would not be issued additional work permits.

For non-renewal of employment permits for a period not exceeding 60 days from the date of expiration, a fine of 200 dirhams ($ 54.45) per month is imposed with a maximum cumulative fine of 2 thousand dirhams. Previously, the maximum limit for violators has not been established.
