In Dubai, a man issued a credit card using fake documents

A man in Dubai issued a credit card using fake documents and made purchases of more than $ 4.5 thousand with it.

The Dubai Court of First Instance on Thursday heard the case of a 28-year-old businessman of Pakistani descent who is accused of falsifying documents and using another person's Emirates ID when applying for a credit card in the fall of 2015.

In court, the man denied allegations of forgery and fraud.

A company employee who issued a credit card to the accused said that the defendant filed an application from his company with Al Muraqqabat on September 8, 2015. At the same time, the accused claimed that he is an Australian and works as an engineer at Dubai International Airport. He handed the employee copies of all the necessary documents, including copies of the passport, Emirates ID and residence permit.

“He also showed a copy of a credit card issued by a local bank and an airport employee ID and a check. He also signed the application form using the name of the holder of the original documents, ”a company employee testified.

After that, a credit card was issued to him for making purchases in stores, according to which the accused spent 16.7 thousand dirhams ($ 4.55 thousand). When they tried to contact the man, it became clear that he was not an employee of the airport.

The businessman admitted the fact of fake and fraud during the investigation. The court will rule on February 27.
