Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov paid a one-day working visit to the UAE.
Dubai, UAE. On April 27, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov paid a one-day working visit to the United Arab Emirates. As part of a working visit, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade met with the UAE Foreign Minister, co-chair of the Russian-Emirate Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Technical and Investment Cooperation Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
During the dialogue, Denis Manturov noted that the Russian side considers the reduction in trade between the countries as a temporary phenomenon that needs to be overcome in the near future. "We are ready to develop new growth points for bilateral cooperation, drawing on the existing backlogs in such fields as peaceful atom and space, as well as promoting projects, including desalination, agriculture and tourism," he stressed.
The parties noted some progress in the development of investment cooperation. It was, in particular, about joint investment projects with RDIF in Russia. UAE are the main partner of the fund. In addition, thanks to the UAE, RDIF's cooperation with Saudi Arabia is being promoted. The head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation also said that within the framework of the Russian-Emirate IPC, dialogue is being activated in the format of working groups on industry, investment and innovation, as well as on regional and investment cooperation.
The parties emphasized the importance of establishing a regular dialogue in the field of aluminum projects. In the near future it is planned to hold the third meeting of the Russian-Emirate working group on cooperation in the aluminum industry. Also, with the assistance of the Russian side, in May 2016, the first meeting of the Gulf Aluminum Council is expected with the participation of Russia.
On the whole, Denis Manturov expressed the readiness of the Russian side to actively engage in joint projects and emphasized interest in building up mutual supplies and developing cooperation. Also during the working visit of the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade to the UAE, meetings were held with the Deputy Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the UAE Armed Forces, Crown Prince of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zaed Al Nahyan and National Security Advisor Sheikh Tahnun bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
